About Tea-XP

The Buzz Is Real. The Hangover Isn't.

Tea-XP exists because high-grade Chinese tea does something to you — something real, something good — and most people have never had the chance to find out.

We're not talking about the tea bag you steep for three minutes and forget about. We're talking about rare, carefully sourced leaves packed with L-theanine, GABA, EGCG, theobromine, and a stack of other naturally occurring compounds that can leave you feeling calm, focused, warm, and genuinely lit from the inside. No alcohol. No morning regret. Just the plant, doing what it's been doing for thousands of years.

Everyone experiences tea differently depending on body size, caffeine sensitivity, and metabolism — that's part of what makes each tasting its own thing.

Who's Behind It

Scott Goins has been embedded in Austin's tea world since 2016, when he started as a volunteer server at Guan Yin Tea House — one of Austin's most beloved tea destinations. Over the years he worked his way from volunteer to trusted team member, all while finishing a degree in Business Administration and Management at Texas Tech.

His trajectory changed when Sohan Fan, one of Guan Yin's founding tea suppliers and owner of West China Tea, recognized Scott's operational instincts and brought him on to manage his local wholesale accounts and to improve his company's operations. When Guan Yin Tea House eventually closed, Sohan rallied his team to transform the location into West China Tea's first proper teahouse — a walk-up tea bar, a members-only lounge, and a large event space that quickly became a community hub for Austinites who took their tea seriously.

Scott became one of six co-owners of West China Tea, where his fingerprints were on nearly every operational layer of the business: incoming imports from China, exports abroad, local wholesale relationships, online order fulfillment, customer support, and food manufacturing compliance. He also built the company's inventory systems largely from scratch. One of his proudest wins was sourcing a tea-weighing machine that took packing capacity from 9 units per 90 minutes to 9 units per 9 minutes — a 900% improvement that still blows his mind.

In late 2023 he launched Higher Quality Tea Co., his own brand focused on premium teas with beautiful packaging and strong storytelling. The product was excellent. The events weren't happening yet — and that turned out to be the insight that changed everything.

In 2025, Scott pivoted to Tea-XP — the Tea Experience — after a group of 40 people reached out looking for a guided tasting. He showed up, he brewed, and the room got it immediately. Monthly appearances at The Table Network followed, where Scott introduced local Austin business owners to Chinese teas most had never encountered. Word continued to spread — eventually landing Scott at a private event for a notable Westlake Hills artist, hosted in partnership with The Tivity. Quietly, then all at once, Tea-XP was becoming something real.

Scott now brings that decade-plus of sourcing knowledge, operational precision, and genuine passion for the plant directly to your event.

What We Believe

Tea is a social experience. The best cups happen in a room full of people who didn't know what they were in for.

Quality is non-negotiable. Every tea Scott selects is sourced with the same scrutiny he developed overseeing direct shipments from China. If it's on the menu, it earned its spot.

Nobody should feel left out. Whether your guests are seasoned tea nerds or have only ever had Lipton, everyone gets the same warm welcome. The only prerequisite is curiosity.
